Take on the Family Fun Fitness challenge

Here are some fun, friendly, and playful ideas for the Family Fun Fitness challenge:

Backyard obstacle course

Create a mini obstacle course in your garden or local park using household items like chairs, ropes, and cones. Include activities like crawling under tables, jumping over pillows, and balancing on one leg. Time each family member and see who can complete it the fastest!

Family dance-off

Choose a favourite song and have a dance-off in the living room. Each family member can showcase their best moves, and you can take turns being the judge. Bonus points for the most creative or funniest dance!

Relay race madness

Set up a simple relay race in your garden or at a nearby park. Include different stations where family members must complete a task, like spinning around, doing 5 jumping jacks, or hopping on one foot before tagging the next person.

Balloon volleyball

Play a game of volleyball using a balloon instead of a ball. Create a net using a piece of string or just draw a line in the sand/grass. The goal is to keep the balloon in the air as long as possible—perfect for indoors or outdoors!

Treasure Hunt adventure

Create a treasure hunt around your house. Write down clues leading to different locations where family members have to complete a small physical challenge (like running in place for 30 seconds) before finding the next clue. The final 'treasure' could be a fun family reward like a picnic or a movie night.

Hula Hoop challenge

See who can keep the hula hoop spinning the longest! Make it more interesting by adding some variations, like spinning it on an arm or trying to walk while keeping the hoop going.

Family yoga flow

Create a simple yoga flow that everyone can follow. Let each family member choose their favourite pose and add it to the sequence. This can be a fun way to unwind and stretch together after a busy day.

Simon Says fitness game

Play a game of Simon Says with a fitness twist! Have the leader call out different exercises like “Simon says do 10 squats” or “Simon says do a plank.” It’s a great way to get everyone moving and laughing.

Animal races

Have a race where each family member has to move like a different animal. Try crab walks, frog jumps, or bear crawls. It’s silly, fun, and definitely gets the heart rate up!

Tug-of-war

Use a rope or long towel for a classic game of tug-of-war. Play in teams or everyone against one strong family member. It’s a playful way to build strength and teamwork.

Jump rope marathon

See how long each family member can jump rope without stopping. Make it a fun competition with mini-prizes for different categories, like the most jumps in a row or the most creative jumping style.

Parent vs. Kids challenges

Let the kids take on the parents in a series of mini-challenges, like push-ups, sit-ups, or even a sack race. It’s all about fun and showing the kids that parents can still keep up!

These challenges are designed to be light-hearted and engaging, ensuring everyone has a great time while staying active.

Plus don't forget there’ll be prizes for the most creative family workout video!

Videos are private and can only be viewed by Criss Cross Active.
